Davinson's Camp is named after the very first warden of Hwange National Park, Ted Davinson, who dedicated 30 years of his life to the park and its animals. It seems only fitting then, that this adventure camp of Wilderness Safaris bears his name.Davison’s Camp is situated inside Hwange National Park, in the south-eastern section, on a private concession. Access is either by 4×4 self-drive vehicles, or a plane into the Linkwasha airstrip.
The camp itself is made up of 9 meru-style safari tents and main area built under a grove of magnificent false Mopane trees. The entertainment area boasts an elevated viewing deck above the dining room, lounge and bar, where you have a perfect view of the watering hole in front of the camp. Another favourite spot to view game from is the wooden deck and fire pit located at the front of the main entertainment area.
Slightly off to the side is the pool area and traditional Boma. The Boma is the perfect setting for dining under the stars. In the colder months, portable wood heaters are used in the main area and knee blankets are provided during dinner, keeping you nice and snug while you enjoy the sounds of the African night.
